Franz is a Licensed Massage Therapist and continues his education directive to expansion of modalities. Deborah is an ND and Certified Natural Health Practitioner through Trinity College of Natural Health. She is also a HypnoBirthing Practitioner and certified through the HypnoBirthing Institute.
They are members of the Blair County Chamber of Commerce, Professional Members of the International Center for Reiki Training and the HypnoBirthing Institute. The Reiki Center is an approved site to offer the educational program designed and implemented by Reiki Rays of Hope for Caregivers, Inc. The Center continues to grow and to serve our community by adding various educational classes and modalities that keep with their Centers foundation: to present, teach and offer complementary and integrative therapies to enhance wellness and quality of life. The classes are designed to educate, empower and encourage.
In 2011, Reiki Center opened its doors at 1301 Allegheny St, Suite 112. Opportunities occurred within the next two years, and the Center grew to its current location: 1301 Allegheny Street, Suite 101, Hollidaysburg, PA in Blair County, Pennsylvania. The Center serves the surrounding areas including Cambria, Bedford, Huntingdon, Somerset and Centre counties.
The Center’s connection with various organizations include the following: ICRT (International Center for Reiki Training), American Holistic Medicine Association, Blair County Chamber of Commerce and Hollidaysburg Business Partnership. Deb is also a member of the National Association of Professional Women. She was awarded “VIP-Woman of the Year” 2013-2014.
They chose the affiliation with the ICRT because of the research of the benefits of Reiki within the medical community, The Touchstone Process. The founder, William Lee Rand, is inspirational and uplifting; and his journey has given much to others. Many articles on this site are and will continue to be published from the ICRT as studies are completed. The published articles are approved by the ICRT for our site.
The Center also set a milestone as the Center became an approved site to offer the program established by Reiki Rays of Hope for Caregivers, Inc. – Mentor Ohio. This program EMPOWERS the caregiver by offering Reiki for Caregivers as specific curriculum paying close attention to the needs of the caregiver and those in their care. The caregiver group includes those professional caregivers such as doctors, nurses, home health professionals, etc. We look to the caregiver agencies to present a short presentation that will give clear identification of the vast areas in which Reiki shows significant benefits.
University Hospital has embraced the program and Reiki sessions were given to hospital staff. Reiki classes were given to the hospital staff; the public is also welcomed. In October of 2012, Reiki Rays of Hope began sessions for pre-op, post-op and rehab for Orthopedic surgical patients. Currently, approved training sites include Florida, Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Our Center. With such positive results from the surgical project, University Hospital has expanded the services to the Oncology Wing.
Our community will embrace the program, I am sure!
This has been an exciting year for the Reiki Center in Hollidaysburg.
The first Reiki Clinic within the medical/clinical environment has opened within the Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries organization. Each Wednesday, the volunteers offer Reiki sessions as well as AromaTouch for hands. Over 250 combined sessions have been completed.
Both Deb and Franz are certified instructors to teach parents and caregivers how to massage their baby. This certification is through the HypnoBirthing Organization.
Deb completed her education and a Doctor of Naturopathy and is a Certified Natural Health Professional.
Participation in MANY events have led to a greater understanding how alternative and integrative therapies can play a role in our wellness and quality of life. These events include Bryce Jordan Center, Health and Fitness Expo, Lutheran Home Wellness Event, Altoona Mirror Wellness Expo, Southern Blair Senior Center, Northern Blair Senior Center, McCullough Place… to name just a few. Each month, sometimes several per month, has taken us out to our community to educate how this can be utilized.
A new wellness initiative has been completed and implemented by our joining hands with Tracey Stroup of Trained by Tracey, Inc. This wellness program has been implemented into the corporate environment utilizing a complete wellness package for all employees.
